Gold Works by David Martin jewelry store anchored 1400 King Street for the last 36 years and the Old Town Crier has only been in existence for two years longer. You might say we kind of “grew up” together. As what often happens with long standing sole ownership business, our friend, David Martin, decided to retire his ring mandrel, bench pin and anvil and sold his business a few months ago. We will miss David, but a new story begins.
The never-ending saga of the evolution of the business district of Old Town Alexandria has recently taken another step forward. Gold Works by David Martin is now Gold Works of Alexandria and is in the very capable hands of Daniel Mansour and Adam Stayer, formally associated with Belle View Jewelers, located in Belle View Shopping Center just down the GW Parkway from Old Town.
This easy-going duo have been hard at work organizing the store in their image. A much-needed renovation and uptick to the old space is still taking place, however, at the time of this writing it was well on its way to completion. The photos accompanying this piece give you an idea of what they have accomplished thus far. They are anxiously awaiting the arrival of their new sign! We think you will approve of the new look.
Gold Works of Alexandria now has beautiful polished display cases with a nice selection of custom jewelry and watches inside. In addition to selling fine custom jewelry and watches, they can help you with the purchase of precious metals, insurance appraisals, as well as providing in-house watch and jewelry repairs and on the spot battery replacements. Adding another touch to their services, Stayer is a long-time luxury watch broker. If you are looking for a special model and are running into obstacles at local dealers, he knows how to cut through some of the red tape (ie being placed on a “list”) and Daniel Mansour is skilled as a watchmaker, giving him the ability to attend to any broken time piece. Adam, Daniel and their team are on the ready to handle your jewelry needs whether it is procuring a new piece or having a favorite piece repaired and restored. Most importantly, remember that all jewelry work is done in house…nothing is sent to a third outside party.
